Hello again.

I could be the owner of a Vareo by the end of next week.

As the boat has a open transom, I wonder if any of you could advise me on the best ways to secure items in the boat while towing.

Or should I put as many items as possible in the boot of the car?

Thanks.

Si.

Hi Simon. Just trailered my boat back to the club, so this is what i do.... The rudder & daggerboard go in the car - in their padded bags. The boom gets bungeed down tight in the bottom of the boat to three blocks of sponge so it doesnt bounce about. The sail in its bag has a loop of mainsheet put through one of the bag handles..just in case. The cover goes back on & thats pretty much it. I use 2 ratchet straps with protectors for the gunn'ls, 1 just behind the mast bridge, 1 just about midships. The light board is fitted onto the rudder pintles, which also holds the bottom of the mast up. The shrouds & halyard are laid alongside the mast & secured at intervals with a few rope ties. Go a few miles & then stop & check the straps are still nice n tight. Good luck with your new boat! Cheers Don
